When I started this list of things to do in Austin, Texas, my biggest challenge was finding a place to stop’ There are so many things to do in Austin, it is difficult to have them all’ But I tried my best to include the most popular Austin activities, from bats to boats to music and beyond!

Things to do in Austin, Texas

1′ Look at Sunset at the Oasis

The Oasis is an Austin institution, but with a recent history of misfortune’ The Oasis is known for its beautiful views of Lake Travis’ Situated on a high cliff overlooking the lake, with a vast network of hundreds of terraces where you can sit, eat and drink and watch the sun set over the lake’ This makes the Oasis is a choice to make, while in Austin’

On June 1, 2005, Oasis has been beaten by lightning’ This lights a fire that destroyed much of the outdoor areas throughout the restaurant’ It is a sad day for Austin, the Oasis is one of the most popular city’ The good news is that the restaurant is outdoors and always within the seats, and work hard to rebuild what was lost’

2′ Exit at Lake

First, clarifying the lake we are talking about’ This can be confusing at first, but here is a lesson in geography’ The Colorado River flows through Austin, creating a series of lakes that cover more than 100 miles’ But this is not the Colorado River that the Prime Minister comes to mind (of the glory of the Grand Canyon)’ This is the other Colorado River ”’ you know, one in Texas’ Where the river widens and slows in downtown Austin, called Town Lake’ But further west, where the river widens into a lake further as a result of a dam is called Lake Travis’ This is the lake that dominates the restaurant Oasis (Oasis see above)’

To be more precise, Lake Travis, was created by the takeover of the Colorado River by the construction of Mansfield Dam in 1937 / 41′ At 63 miles long and a maximum width of 4′5 miles, Lake Travis can accommodate a wide variety of activities ranging from shipping to fishing to skiing’ If you are in this type of activity a day on Lake Travis should be on your list of things to do in Austin’

3′ See bats’

Austin is the largest urban bat colony in the United States’ In 1980, when the Congress Avenue bridge was rebuilt, the engineers built expansion joints in the bridge (a series of narrow crevices under the bridge)’ Little did they know that 1′5 million Mexican bats freetail these cracks can call “home’”

Each year, Mexico freetail bats migrate from Mexico, first to arrive in mid-March’ This makes the summer and autumn bat the first time display’ If you get off at the Congress Avenue Bridge at dusk on a summer night, he was among the hundreds (or thousands) of people are queuing up to see the bats in Austin to have the sky as a clock’ Watching the flight of the bats is to take one of the most popular things to do in Austin, Texas (see photo), especially for people who have never seen before’ In fact, whenever I have guests from out of town, I often put the bat on my list of things to do in Austin’

4′ Visit the Texas State Capitol

Continuing our list of things to do in Austin, which Congress Avenue tours of the Capitol Texas State’ The phrase “things are bigger in Texas” are here for the Texas State Capitol is even bigger than the United States Capitol’ But only one reason to visit this architectural wonder’

You can also enjoy unusually free access to the Capitol, if you want to look around’ Austin is proud of the accessibility of their State’ Although you spend a lot of law enforcement on the way, you can still walk around most areas of the building free’ You can stand in the middle of the floor and peers in richly decorated dome over you’ For these reasons and more, the Texas State Capitol should be on your list of things to do in Austin, Texas’

5′ Exit in downtown Austin

Right in the heart of Austin coach is another necessity for your list of things to do in Austin’ The city’s unofficial motto is “Keep Austin Weird”, which is the symbol of the gentle nature of Austin, eclectic mix of people, and cultural specificity’ Yes, really worship spam every year (the kind you eat, not the kind in your inbox)’ Spamarama is called, and deserves an article of your own!

The best way to discover the unique personality of Austin is to spend half a day (or better yet, a night) to walk in downtown Austin’ You will have plenty to see and do, and seeing people can not be beaten’ Restaurants, shopping at the South Congress, visit the State Capitol (above) ”’ just go out and see the reality of Austin’ It’sa city like no other’

6′ Esther to go to see the crazy

Ether fools chose to put another in his list of things to do in Austin, Texas’ Esther is a live comedy show in a small theater on Sixth Street in the heart of downtown Austin’ So if you put on your list of things to do in Austin, also represents the point 4 of this list (in the center of a coach) ”’ is two for one!

From their website: “Esther Follies began as a byproduct of a lounge in the pool, called Esther’s Pool, on East Sixth Street April Fool’s Day, 1977′ Designed as a combination topical vaudeville / satirical magazine Esther genial musical comedy Folies be the first state of the complex comedy, which won national praise and a loyal’ ”

7′ Some have live music

Austin is known as the Capital of Live Music in the World’ The city was looking for nickname after finding that Austin had more rooms of music with the other great cities like New York and Nashville’ Visit the city of Austin, any night of the week and see this first’ You can find the country, rock, jazz, bluegrass, blues ”’ you name’

The city is also home to the city limits of Austin (the show and the festival) and the South by Southwest music festival’ So whatever time of year you visit Austin, you can put music on their list of things to do in Austin’

Conclusion

It’s just a small preview of things to do in Austin’ To make a comprehensive list would require a book not an article’ But I hope that you chose a sample list above all else’ There are many things to do in Austin, Texas!
